Becoming the First Well State

Get Fit Rhode Island Recieves National Certification
With state dignitaries, the Governor’s cabinet members, and directors, along with state department wellness champions in attendance, Governor Donald L. Carcieri announced the State Government of Rhode Island has achieved Silver Award designation from the Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) to make Rhode Island state government a “well workplace.” (read more)



Rhode Island has set a goal of becoming the first “Well State” in the nation. Achieving this status requires 20 percent of all employees working for companies that have been certified and designated as “well workplaces” by the Worksite Wellness Councils of America.

Our state currently has about 200 companies working towards this designation. With the help of state workers, we can achieve this first-of-a-kind designation.
